Welcome to our vibrant Creative Movement Dance Class. This ballet-based exploration is designed to be an exciting stepping stone for young dancers, introducing them to the fundamentals of a traditional dance class while maintaining a delightful atmosphere of openness and freedom. In this class, we foster a playful and encouraging environment, allowing young dancers to express themselves freely and discover the joy of movement. Through imaginative activities and age-appropriate ballet techniques, we guide children in learning the next steps toward a more structured dance experience. Join us as we embark on a dance adventure where creativity knows no bounds.

Contemporary 12-16yrs

Contemporary is a style of dance that combines elements of several genres including modern, release, classical technique, and more, depending on the instructor and choreography. Often in terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance can combine floorwork and modern dance’s stress on the torso, but is not confined to these techniques. Contemporary at DanceFusion also employs contact-release, lots of floor work, good tunes and improvisation. We look to be adventurous, curious, relevant and inspiring.
Dancers develop coordination, musicality and artistry.

Trained in classical ballet from a young age, Ava is a dedicated instructor, bringing a unique blend of technical precision and artistic flair to class. Fostering a love for dance while nurturing each student’s potential. She has attended and been accepted to numerous dance programs from Kootenay Dance Works in Rossland where she started, to prestigious schools such as Arts Umbrella, Houston Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Jorgen. This Term is longer than the fall one, and runs Jan.12th until April 28th and culminates in the 13th Annual DanceFusion Showcase (Dress Rehearsal April 25th, shows April 26th-28th). There will be a costume fee that will need to be paid and strong attendance through the term is required. Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.

Lyrical Acro-Dance 9-12yrs

Lyrical is dance style that blends various styles and is an expressive form of dance. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use movement to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning/mood of the music.  It is all built on a foundation of technique that includes turns, kicks and jumps and all set to uplifting current music.
This class will be open level, so will cater to a variety of previous dance experience. Dancers develop coordination, musicality and artistry. Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, discipline, and concentration. A dancer will gain more flexibility and strength to achieve skills thru safe and progressive training.  The goal is to place Acro skills into a dance routine, therefore blending artistry with athleticism.
OPEN LEVEL: For this level dancers do not need prior experience, as there will be a variety of skills and progressions introduced to safely be able to accommodate where they are at.

Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.  If you register for just the 1st term, there is no performance, you will just learn the choreo.

Individual exercises will be given to fit their ability as students will have different needs and may be ready for more advanced skills.

Stretch & Strengthen

This is a total body conditioning class geared for dancers, aimed at increasing your capacity in your other technique or choreo classes, but also can be taken by anyone just looking for a class a week to gain more strength and flexibility.
This class focuses on developing more range of motion and strength for joints, as well as toning, refining, and lengthening key muscle groups used in dance. An excellent class for students who want to see results and make constant progress in their dance training. This class is a great addition to your training schedule!
Flexibility training, core stability, cardio-vascular endurance, and muscular strength are all areas that are covered in this class, so movers can safely utilize their mobility without causing injury.
Stretch & Strengthen offers an opportunity for students to add a full hour of focus on developing increased flexibility, strength, dance technique and stamina every week. No prior experience needed…JUST BRING YOUR OWN MAT!

Welcome to our Ballet Fusion Class—an untraditional and liberating take on traditional ballet! This class is designed to infuse the grace of ballet with a sense of freedom and fun. While we honour the essential techniques, we break away from the conventional by incorporating a diverse range of music, ensuring that classical compositions share the stage with an eclectic mix. Join us in this innovative ballet experience where joy, fluidity, and the thrill of movement take centre stage, creating a class that celebrates the beauty of ballet without being bound by tradition.  Students will develop technique through barre, centre work and across-the-floor exercises. Working on honing in on musicality, precision and focus while fostering the grace and strength this form has to offer.    Ballet is a rich and varied form, and Ava will offer a class that will integrate healthy alignment, challenge muscle memory, and develop musicality. Get strong, flexible and graceful. This class is open to a variety of levels. This will be a dance technique class, to hone your skills, not performance-based at this point in time.

Contemporary Inter/adv. 15yrs+

This class weaves release technique, floorwork, modern dance techniques and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, street styles, fancy footwork, and intricate hand and arm movements, and partner work. The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary outlook.

Class is fast paced, athletic and will include conditioning for enhanced floorwork. It is designed for experienced movers looking for a more complex and challenging class physically and mentally.  Taking the House class before is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, with only an hour, dancers should be warm, and the class prior is a perfect preparation for the contemporary material students will delve into.

Students must be enrolled in 3+ classes a week to enrol in this class, exceptions can be made for experienced movers, email with questions.

Acro-Dance Intermediate 8-11yrs

This is not a beginner/open level class, and is geared toward dancers with prior dance AND acro experience.

Please email if unsure about the level.
For this level dancers need to be able to:

~go from standing down to a bridge on their own or with a spot and then hold bridge for at least 10 sec with heels down.

~do a forward roll(no heading touching mat)

~handstand with good form, even if not able to hold

~proficient cartwheel on one side

~hold plank for 30 secs.

We will work safely from this base of skills.

It is strongly recommended that students are enrolled in one other class to support dance technique/development and coordination at this level. Ballet, HipHop, or  DanceFusion are excellent 2nd class options.

Ballet 5-7yrs

A fun and engaging class to introduce the foundation of Ballet technique. The class will use centre exercises, movements across the floor, fun games and stretching/strengthening to increase body awareness, alignment, flexibility, and coordination. Students will learn ballet positions and vocabulary and develop creative movement skills in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. This is a very popular class and is an excellent intro to dance.
