This class weaves release technique, floorwork, modern dance techniques and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, street style, fancy footwork, and intricate hand and arm movements. The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary outlook.  Class is fast paced, athletic and will include conditioning for enhanced floorwork. It is designed for experienced movers looking for a more complex and challenging class physically and mentally.

This Term is longer than the fall one, and runs Jan.9th until April 30th and culminates in the 12th Annual DanceFusion Showcase (Dress Rehearsal April 27th, shows April 28th-30th). There will be a costume fee that will need to be paid and strong attendance through the term is required. Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.

Contemporary/Modern 12+

Contemporary/Modern combines elements of several genres including Modern, release technique contemporary, ballet, jazz and more.  It employs contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, as well as more classical techniques for an adventurous dance experience. This class will hone and challenge patterns, and will include floorwork and across the floor combos, and is designed for all dancers regardless of prior experience. Hilary enjoys using a variety of styles of music in the class, and will be a lot of fun.

DanceFusion is thrilled to welcome Hilary to the team of teachers this year, and we are excited for her to share her unique strengths with the dancers here.
Hilary received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University). She’s had the opportunity to work with many incredibly talented teachers and choreographers including teachers from The National Ballet of Canada, Kaeja d’Dance, and Toronto Dance theatre and choreographer Hanna Kiel of “Human Body Expressions.”
Hilary also completed her 200 Yoga Teacher Training in 2019.
Hilary’s had the honour of performing at the Paralympic Games opening ceremony, numerous works at Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend, on Disney channel’s “The Next Step” pilot episode, and in many student and guest choreographed shows while at University.
Hilary’s passions have always been in dance and movement, as well as teaching. She’s been teaching dance for over a decade to dancers of all ages and abilities, around London and Toronto. She’s working to pursue a Bachelors of Education and eventually teach elementary school alongside teaching dance.

The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary outlook.  Class is fast paced, athletic and will include conditioning for enhanced floorwork. It is designed for experienced movers looking for a more complex and challenging class physically and mentally.  Taking the Jazz class before is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, with only an hour, dancers should be warm, and the Jazz prior is a perfect fit.

Students must be enrolled in 4+ classes a week to enrol in this class, exceptions can be made for  experienced movers, email with questions.

HipHop-Intermediate (14yrs+)

This HipHop class will include will integrate party dances of the 80′s and 90′s to the present day, as well as choreography, across the floor grooves, and the latest dance moves. It will include a wide range of styles. Class will include conversations about HipHop Culture and its the history.
This class is for students that have done HipHop before and already know moves like The Alf, Biz Markie, Gucci, Reebok, Latin Rock,  Sponge Bob, Party Machine, Monastery, etc. already and are ready to get super funky, sweaty and push themselves at a more complex pace.
For students that are enrolled in at least 2+ classes a week!

Acro-Dance Intermediate (11-13yrs)

Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, discipline, and concentration. A dancer will gain more flexibility and body strength. Acrobatic movements can include handstands, hand balances, somersaults, headstands, elbow stands, walkover variations, cartwheel variations and more!
This class is an intermediate class and students will be given variations for their experience to work safely where they are at.

The base skills for this level are to be able to go from standing down to a bridge, bridge with retirè leg, solid cartwheel with legs straight, Handstand with good form, forward roll, hold V/plank sit for 25 sec.

Intermediate level dancers must be enrolled in 2 + classes a week,
some exceptions will be made depending on dance experience.
