Indian Fusion Adult/youth13yrs +

New Class! My name is Surya. Based in Nelson, I am a dancer and educator who loves sharing the joy of movement through Indian folk and contemporary styles. I focus on creating fun, energetic sessions while constantly exploring new dance forms. I believe dance is a powerful way to connect with culture and express personal stories.

Experience the vibrant energy of Folk-Contemporary fusion, where traditional rhythmic footwork and waist-swaying meet the precision of modern cinematic dance. This class emphasizes continuous, fluid movement, featuring rapid spins and expressive hand gestures inspired by daily rural life and celebratory rituals. It is a session designed to blend cultural storytelling with the speed and grace of the contemporary stage.

Afro House Open Level

Guest Artist in Residency June 3rd-June 17th 2026.

Afro House: From Kuduro to Gqom

Afro House is not one thing. It never was. This class traces the arc of a diaspora in motion, from the raw, percussive footwork of Kuduro born in the streets of Luanda, through the spiritual, bass-heavy weight of Gqom out of Durban, and everything that lives between those two poles. Angolan rhythms, Amapiano textures, House sensibilities rooted in the African continent and its diaspora. Each class is a movement and music journey through one facet of this world. We go slow. We go deep. The music teaches as much as the steps do.

Ivan Touko, also known as Amöûgįvan, is a multidisciplinary artist, movement facilitator, and Selectah DJ rooted in Afro x Latin diasporic traditions and Ubuntu philosophy.
