Ballet 5-7yrs

A fun and engaging class to introduce the foundation of Ballet technique. The class will use centre exercises, movements across the floor, fun games and stretching/strengthening to increase body awareness, alignment, flexibility, and coordination. Students will learn ballet positions and vocabulary and develop creative movement skills in a fun and inclusive atmosphere. This is a very popular class and is an excellent intro to dance.
This Term is longer than the fall one, and runs Jan.9th until April 30th and culminates in the 12th Annual DanceFusion Showcase (Dress Rehearsal April 27th, shows April 28th-30th). There will be a costume fee that will need to be paid and strong attendance through the term is required. Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.

DanceFusion is thrilled to welcome Hilary to the team of teachers this fall, and we are excited for her to share her unique strengths with the dancers here.
Hilary received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University). She’s had the opportunity to work with many incredibly talented teachers and choreographers including teachers from The National Ballet of Canada, Kaeja d’Dance, and Toronto Dance theatre and choreographer Hanna Kiel of “Human Body Expressions.”
Hilary also completed her 200 Yoga Teacher Training in 2019.
Hilary’s had the honour of performing at the Paralympic Games opening ceremony, numerous works at Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend, on Disney channel’s “The Next Step” pilot episode, and in many student and guest choreographed shows while at University.
Hilary’s passions have always been in dance and movement, as well as teaching. She’s been teaching dance for over a decade to dancers of all ages and abilities, around London and Toronto. She’s working to pursue a Bachelors of Education and eventually teach elementary school alongside teaching dance.

HipHop Open Level 13yrs+

This HipHop class will integrate party dances of the 80′s and 90′s to the present day, as well as choreography, across the floor grooves, and the latest dance moves that make this dance unique. It includes a wide range of styles and will be a SWEATY GOOD TIME. Prepare to move and get funky, and dance hard. Open to all levels of experience, so if you are new or have danced hiphop before, this class will make you bounce and rock no matter what, layers will be offered to build complexity for those with more experience.

Wee Ones Creative Acro Dance 4-6 yrs

A dance class that provides the potential for personal expression as well as coordination skill building. One of the goals of creative dance is to communicate through movement and use imagery and games to have fun while creating the building blocks of movement development. This class also uses traditional exercises to familiarize students with dance vocabulary, musicality, and choreography.
Acro Dance terminology and positions will be introduced in an age appropriate way ( pike, straddle, tendu, bridge, somersault, plank, handstand, candlestick etc).
The class is combination of acrobatics development and dance skills. This class fills quickly, limited spots at this age.

Students bring their own yoga mats, extras are available to borrow.

NOTE***Term runs Jan. 9th-March. 13th ( shorter in length) We will end with an open house for families.

Dance Fusion Adult

Slava weaves her experience with various dance styles into a rich class that explores a variety of movement techniques, with an emphasis on Contemporary. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, modern release technique, fancy footwork, and intricate hands and arm movements, along with some funky grooving.
She aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary flavour. Each class will also have a stretch and strengthen component. The class is open level.

Adult/Youth Contemporary 15yrs+ open level

Fabiola shares her passion for Contemporary into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, classical technique, and of course level changes. Fabiola aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary flavour. No prior experience is needed, but the class will be fast paced enough to inspire dancers with more experience as well.
This class is slower paced than her Tuesday class and floorwork will be introduced more slowly, and will not be the focus of class.

TWO Options available:
Full Term (Jan.9th-April 30th-culminates w. performance last weekend of April) $240 + GST

Contemporary Floor/Explore 13yrs+

This class weaves release technique, floorwork, modern dance techniques and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience.
Fabiola brings her passion, presence and joy to the dance floor every class, sign up for an empowering and inspiring time. There is a mix of levels in this class, so don’t be shy to push your  exploration of dance further. Please note, you will be getting up and down from the floor, feel free to bring knees pads if you like.
This is class will have a good amount of floorwork, so be prepared to get low and strong and more fluid with your technique.
TWO Options available:

Jazz Intermediate 13+

*Dancers must be enrolled in 2-3 classes to register for this class, email for exceptions.

Hilary will share her extensive training to hone the dancers’ alignment, extensions, and musicality.  Her style of Jazz is more grounded and vernacular with a contemporary tilt. She likes to lean into the more commercial style of jazz every so often as well. Classes will focus on strength, balancing, flexibility and rhythm. Students will learn, with proper technique; kicks, turns and jumps. Develop flexibility and strength alongside solid dance technique with across the floor skills and fun combos. This class is for experienced dancers as it is more face paced and complex.
