Glynis has been involved in the artistic scene as a dancer since the young age of three. Previous to moving to the Kootenays to teach with Turning Pointe Dance Studio and perform with Slava Doval’s DanceFusion, Glynis was in Vancouver training and performing with Lamondance Company. There, she focused on the artistry and technique needed for contemporary dance.

Mat Pilates for Dancers

Pilates is a system of exercise and movement that is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance that incorporates many positions and principles from dance technique. Pilates brings our attention to the importance of deep core support, pelvic alignment, connection to breath, and full ROM, allowing for fluid and controlled movement throughout the body. Pilates teaches us how to integrate our spine with our limbs so that overall movement is connected and embodied. This mat class will emphasize the Pilates fundamentals while introducing a variety of exercises to understand pelvic neutrality and facilitate a deep connection to the core. Develop a sense of stability yet mobility that will translate into any style of dance class and day-to-day life. Please bring a yoga mat and a small towel to each class, all other props will be provided.
