Mat Pilates

Pilates is a system of exercise and movement that is designed to increase strength, flexibility, and balance that incorporates many positions and principles from dance technique. Pilates brings our attention to the importance of deep core support, pelvic alignment, connection to breath, and full ROM, allowing for fluid and controlled movement throughout the body. Pilates teaches us how to integrate our spine with our limbs so that overall movement is connected and embodied. This mat class will emphasize the Pilates fundamentals while introducing a variety of exercises to understand pelvic neutrality and facilitate a deep connection to the core. Develop a sense of stability yet mobility that will translate into any style of dance class and day-to-day life. Please bring a yoga mat and a small towel to each class, all other props will be provided.

Contemporary 12-18yrs

Contemporary is a style of dance that combines elements of several genres including modern, release, classical technique, and more, depending on the instructor and choreography. Often in terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance can combine floorwork and modern dance’s stress on the torso, but is not confined to these techniques. Contemporary at DanceFusion also employs contact-release, lots of floor work, good tunes and improvisation. We look to be adventurous, curious, relevant and inspiring.
Dancers develop coordination, musicality and artistry.

Open-level, no prior experience needed.
