Slava weaves her experience with Ballet, Contemporary, Folkloric, Urban styles, and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles.

The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, classical technique, fancy footwork, and intricate hands and arm movements. She aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates “old world folk” with an “urban contemporary” flavor.

FusionFocus Technique Intermediate 12-16yrs

This is a special class offering for intermediate students who are dedicated to pushing themselves in their dance training. This is not an open class and is by placement. Email for info.

Dancers must attend both technique classes a week…Tuesday (Slava teaching) and Friday (Hilary teaching).

Dancers must be enrolled in at least 2 other classes a week besides the Tues/Friday in any style, Acro, HipHp, House, etc. 

 Appropriate for dancers with 3+ years of continuous prior dance experience in 3+ classes a week. 

The class will cover Contemporary as well as Ballet technique and will be a chance for dancers to push their artistry and skill.

Contemporary Open level Adult 16+

This Contemporary class combines elements of several genres including modern, release, and more. It employs contact-release, floor work, all set to diverse and hype music with fun drills to develop musicality. This class will hone and challenge your dance patterns, and will include floor work and jumps and turns, and is designed for dancers of all levels.
Students will learn combos,  technique and across the floor sequences as well. The class will include floor work, and is geared towards movement quality and fluidity within new patterns.
It is open level, so movements will be layered for a range of experience levels.

Term runs January 16 – May 4.

Fee is $295 + GST.

This class will be in the 14th DanceFusion Showcase at the Capitol Theatre, May 2nd-4th, 2025, with a mandatory Dress rehearsal Thursday May 1st. Classes have costume fees in the range of $25-$50, please be prepared for those fees. Sometimes we use items dancers have or can borrow, more info will be available by late Feb.

Contemporary Open level 11+

This Contemporary class combines elements of several genres including modern, release, lyrical, and more.  It employs contact-release, floor work, current popular music and fun drills to develop musicality. This class will hone and challenge your dance patterns, and will include floor work and jumps and turns, and is designed for dancers of all levels. Students will learn combos, and technique as well. The class will include floorwork, and is geared towards movement quality and pushing the comfort zone with coordination challenges.

We are so excited to welcome Ava Jinjoe back to the DF teaching team. Trained in classical ballet from a young age, Ava is a dedicated instructor, bringing a unique blend of technical precision and artistic flair to class. Fostering a love for dance while nurturing each student’s potential. She has attended and been accepted to numerous dance programs from Kootenay Dance Works in Rossland where she started, to prestigious schools such as Arts Umbrella, Houston Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Jorgen. With a career marked by passion, dedication, and a profound love for the art of dance.

DF Performance Youth

This group is for dancers ages 15+ with 5+ years of dance experience, including Ballet, contemporary, and Hip-Hop. It requires dedication to attendance, extra rehearsals, and motivation to work hard at an athletic level and develop leadership skills and team-building cooperation.
As a prerequisite, students need to be enrolled in 4+ classes a week, including Contemp Wednesdays at 8pm and a Hip Hop class.

The term runs from January 16 – May 4.

The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, classical technique, fancy footwork, and intricate hand and arm movements. She aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down-to-earth aesthetic.

This is not a beginner class, it is suited for those some prior dance experience.

The term runs from January 16 – May 4.

The fee is $266 + GST.

Slava weaves her experience with various dance styles into a rich class that explores a variety of movement techniques, with an emphasis on Contemporary and Jazz. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, modern release technique, fancy footwork, intricate hands and arm movements, and some funky grooving.
She aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down-to-earth aesthetic with a contemporary flavour. Each class is open-level and will also have a stretch and strengthen component.

Dancers will participate in the Kootenay Festival of the Arts in Trail, BC. They will need to be shuttled to Trail on one of these days: TBA April 1st-5th. Parent volunteers are needed 🙂 They may miss school. There will be festival entry fees in addition to costume and class fees.  Here is the site:
