Contemporary/Modern 12+

Contemporary/Modern combines elements of several genres including Modern, release technique contemporary, ballet, jazz and more.  It employs contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, as well as more classical techniques for an adventurous dance experience. This class will hone and challenge patterns, and will include floorwork and across the floor combos, and is designed for all dancers regardless of prior experience. Hilary enjoys using a variety of styles of music in the class, and will be a lot of fun. 

This Term is longer than the fall one, and runs Jan.9th until April 30th and culminates in the 12th Annual DanceFusion Showcase (Dress Rehearsal April 27th, shows April 28th-30th). There will be a costume fee that will need to be paid and strong attendance through the term is required. Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.

DanceFusion is thrilled to welcome Hilary to the team of teachers this year, and we are excited for her to share her unique strengths with the dancers here.
Hilary received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance Dance from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University). She’s had the opportunity to work with many incredibly talented teachers and choreographers including teachers from The National Ballet of Canada, Kaeja d’Dance, and Toronto Dance theatre and choreographer Hanna Kiel of “Human Body Expressions.”
Hilary also completed her 200 Yoga Teacher Training in 2019.
Hilary’s had the honour of performing at the Paralympic Games opening ceremony, numerous works at Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend, on Disney channel’s “The Next Step” pilot episode, and in many student and guest choreographed shows while at University.
Hilary’s passions have always been in dance and movement, as well as teaching. She’s been teaching dance for over a decade to dancers of all ages and abilities, around London and Toronto. She’s working to pursue a Bachelors of Education and eventually teach elementary school alongside teaching dance.

DanceFusion Open level 9-11yrs

Slava is excited to offer this fun, upbeat class combining elements of several genres including contemporary, lyrical jazz, ballet, and more.  Dancers listen to a wide variety of music including current popular music and develop musicality thru movement. This class will hone and challenge your dance patterns, and will include floor work and jumps and turns, and is designed for dancers of all levels. Students will learn combos, choreography and technique as well.

Contemporary Inter/adv. 15yrs+

This class weaves release technique, floorwork, modern dance techniques and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, street styles, fancy footwork, and intricate hand and arm movements, and partner work. The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary outlook.  Class is fast paced, athletic and will include conditioning for enhanced floorwork. It is designed for experienced movers looking for a more complex and challenging class physically and mentally.  Taking the Jazz class before is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, with only an hour, dancers should be warm, and the Jazz prior is a perfect fit.

Students must be enrolled in 4+ classes a week to enrol in this class, exceptions can be made for  experienced movers, email with questions.

Acro-Dance Intermediate 7-9yrs

Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, discipline, and concentration. A dancer will gain more flexibility and strength to achieve skills thru safe and progressive training. Dancers will learn through games, drills, and techniques to develop their skills. Acrobatic movements can include handstands somersaults, headstands, and cartwheels, bridge, walkovers and more! The goal is to place Acro skills into a dance routine, therefore blending artistry with athleticism.
For this level dancers need to be able to push up into a bridge without a spot and hold for 10 secs, can go from standing down to a bridge on their own or with a spot, do a forward roll(no heading touching mat) handstand with good form, even if not able to hold, and a proficient cartwheel one one side, hold plank for 25 secs. We will work safely from this base of skills.
This is not a beginner/open level class, please email if in doubt about level.
Individual exercises will be given to fit their ability as students will have different needs and may be ready for more advanced skills.
It is strongly recommended that students are enrolled in one other class to support dance technique/development and coordination at this level. Weds Ballet, Tues HipHop, or Thurs. DanceFusion excellent 2nd class options.
DanceFusion is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio.

Dance Fusion Adult

Slava weaves her experience with various dance styles into a rich class that explores a variety of movement techniques, with an emphasis on Contemporary. The classes vary from fluid lyrical movements to athletic leaps and jumps, modern release technique, fancy footwork, and intricate hands and arm movements, along with some funky grooving.
She aims to create an adventurous dance experience that incorporates a down to earth aesthetic with a contemporary flavour. Each class will also have a stretch and strengthen component. The class is open level.

Contemporary Floor/Explore 13yrs+

This class weaves release technique, floorwork, modern dance techniques and more into a rich class that explores a variety of movement styles. The aim is to create an adventurous dance experience.
Fabiola brings her passion, presence and joy to the dance floor every class, sign up for an empowering and inspiring time. There is a mix of levels in this class, so don’t be shy to push your  exploration of dance further. Please note, you will be getting up and down from the floor, feel free to bring knees pads if you like.
This is class will have a good amount of floorwork, so be prepared to get low and strong and more fluid with your technique.
TWO Options available:
Full Term (Jan.9th-April 30th) $275 +GST
First Term (Jan.9th-March 13th) $215 +GST
Two term options, sign up til spring break or sign up til end of April and join the adventure of adult dance performance on the weekend of April 28th-30th. ( save money as well 🙂 )

Jazz Intermediate 13+

*Dancers must be enrolled in 2-3 classes to register for this class, email for exceptions.

Hilary will share her extensive training to hone the dancers’ alignment, extensions, and musicality.  Her style of Jazz is more grounded and vernacular with a contemporary tilt. She likes to lean into the more commercial style of jazz every so often as well. Classes will focus on strength, balancing, flexibility and rhythm. Students will learn, with proper technique; kicks, turns and jumps. Develop flexibility and strength alongside solid dance technique with across the floor skills and fun combos. This class is for experienced dancers as it is more face paced and complex.
