Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, and above all, discipline and concentration. With careful, quality instruction, a dancer will gain more flexibility and upper body strength. It is an excellent way to learn spatial awareness, an important element in partnering and ensemble work. Acro dance is safe, challenging, and takes a certain amount of flexibility and agility to perform. Acrobatic movements can include handstands, hand balances, flips, handsprings, and cartwheels! Creative Acro Dance 3-5yrs

Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, concentration, CREATIVITY and expression to music.  At this age we introduce bridge, along with cartwheels and handstands, headstands and rolls, along with dance terminology and musicality. Acrobatic movements can include hand balances, walkovers, and cartwheel variations as students get older.

This dance class will provide the potential for personal expression as well as coordination skill building. One of the goals is to communicate through movement and use imagery and games to have fun while creating the building blocks for future development. This class also uses traditional exercises to familiarize students with dance vocabulary, musicality, and choreography.
DanceFusion is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio.

**Winter Term is shorter for this class and runs Jan. 12th- March 8th, 2024.

Lyrical Acro-Dance 9-12yrs

Lyrical is dance style that blends various styles and is an expressive form of dance. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use movement to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning/mood of the music.  It is all built on a foundation of technique that includes turns, kicks and jumps and all set to uplifting current music.
This class will be open level, so will cater to a variety of previous dance experience. Dancers develop coordination, musicality and artistry. Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, discipline, and concentration. A dancer will gain more flexibility and strength to achieve skills thru safe and progressive training.  The goal is to place Acro skills into a dance routine, therefore blending artistry with athleticism.
OPEN LEVEL: For this level dancers do not need prior experience, as there will be a variety of skills and progressions introduced to safely be able to accommodate where they are at.

She has attended and been accepted to numerous dance programs from Kootenay Dance Works in Rossland where she started, to prestigious schools such as Arts Umbrella, Houston Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Jorgen. With a career marked by passion, dedication, and a profound love for the art of dance, Ava is excited to join the Dance Fusion team this winter.

This term  runs Jan.11th until April 28th and culminates in the 13th Annual DanceFusion Showcase (Dress Rehearsal April 25th, shows April 26th-28th). There will be a costume fee that will need to be paid and strong attendance through the term is required. Attendance at stage rehearsals and showcase is required as well.  If you register for just the 1st term, there is no performance, you will just learn the choreo.

For this level dancers do not need prior experience, as there will be a variety of skills and progressions introduced to safely be able to accommodate where they are at.
Individual exercises will be given to fit their ability as students will have different needs and may be ready for more advanced skills.

Acro-Dance Intermediate 8-11yrs

This is not a beginner/open level class, and is geared toward dancers with prior dance AND acro experience.

For this level dancers need to be able to:

~go from standing down to a bridge on their own or with a spot and then hold bridge for at least 10 sec with heels down.

~do a forward roll(no heading touching mat)

~handstand with good form, even if not able to hold

~proficient cartwheel on one side

~hold plank for 30 secs.

We will work safely from this base of skills.

It is strongly recommended that students are enrolled in one other class to support dance technique/development and coordination at this level. Ballet, HipHop, or  DanceFusion are excellent 2nd class options.

Acro Dance Intermediate 13yrs+

Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. It is an excellent way to learn spatial awareness, an important element in ensemble work.
Acrobatic movements can include bridges, walk-overs, handstands, hand balances, somersaults, and cartwheel variations and more! This class is geared for students to work on skills at an appropriate level to their previous experience, a range of skills will be worked on.  It is geared toward students with prior dance and acro experience. This is not an open level or beginner class. If you are new to the studio or this class/level please email to check about placement.

The goal is to place Acro skills into a dance routine, therefore blending artistry with athleticism.
A second dance class is required for dancers at this level.

Acro-Dance Intermediate 12-14yrs

Acrobatic training teaches flexibility, balance, strength, discipline, and concentration. A dancer will gain more flexibility and body strength. Acrobatic movements can include handstands, hand balances, somersaults, headstands, elbow stands, walkover variations, cartwheel variations and more!
This class is an intermediate class and students will be given variations for their experience to work safely where they are at.

The base skills for this level:

~ go from standing down to a bridge,  hold bridge 15 sec

~bridge with retirè straight leg

~solid cartwheel with legs straight,

~Handstand with good form

~hold V/plank sit for 50 sec.

~ 2+yrs of dance experience and demonstrate understanding of musicality and experience picking up choreography.

Intermediate-level dancers must be enrolled in 2 + classes a week.

Welcome to our new toddler dance class, aimed at dancers ages 2-4 years (approximately).  Join us for a joyful exploration of movement and music, where little ones and parents connect through dance. This class will provide the potential for personal expression, as well as coordination development. One of the goals is to communicate through movement using imagery and games to have fun while skill-building for future development.

In this interactive session, children take their first steps in a supportive group setting, fostering social skills and creating magical moments that extend beyond the dance floor.
